I have read the synopses of these books.

I may have hurt myself.

I'm not kidding. The in depth wiki page about the fourth book sort of makes me want to ice pick parts of my brain.

Ooooof.

Someone in the hipsterbookclub community just blasted the most recent one. I keep hearing bad reviews too, but I'll probably still read it since it's about vampires in our fair state.

It really seems to be 'magical boyfriend' syndrome gone out of control.

It's worse than that, I think, because as far as I can tell the girl has NOTHING going for her. She's spineless, thinks she's worthless without her man and has no desire to live when he leaves her. At least once upon a time Anita kicked ass and took names.

"That's basically "And they lived happily ever after" run through a thesaurus and some sort of Chris Claremont dialogue generator."

Bwah-ha-ha-ha.

I've only read the first two books in the series, so far...I need to get my hands on the other two, if only to see what all the hubub is about.

It's rare that I try to avoid spoilers...but in this case, I don't want to ruin whatever it is that's so shocking/disappointing/stupid in "Breaking Dawn."

I tried to read them. Really, I did.

All my gay friends *love* this book. So I thought, "Hey, we're a people of taste. It should be a decent mindless read, at least."

I got twenty pages in. Once she didn't fit it in high school and UGH GENERIC ANGST, I had to stop reading. I didn't even make it to the sparkly vampires.

Also? I made new gay friends.

Read all four books in the last two days books 1-3 a little much but good fluffy brain candy, same for the first 1/3 of book four.

Last two thirds and I just felt dirty and wrong.
