Comic Con so far...
Jul. 24th, 2008 10:45 pmWednesday - A long day of standing around, standing in line and then mass panic and frenzy. I got what I wanted but so far haven't been able to get the Shanna set or the Giganta figure yet as the exclusives are a bit harder to get this year for reasons which totally make sense but are a bit annoying. There are added security precautions which make it harder to get some of these things. Gail Simone complimented my hair and I like her new hair as well.
Thursday - Got in, missed the Freakazoid and Tiny Toons panel. I was getting snacks from Ralph's at the time. NOM NOM NOM Bananas. Went to the Doctor Who panel which was entertaining whichw as then followed by the Torchwood panel, which was freaking awesome. One of the highlights - someone asked John Barrowman if he would play Captain America to which he gave an enthusiastic yes, though he hinted that there was something other already being talked about. Makes one think, hey? He and the woman who plays Tosh (forgive me. My brain is little better than mush atm) sang a duet from Miss Saigon, which was lovely.
Then I wandered around the dealer's room with Kris and Ivan before going to the True Blood panel. I might just have to get HBO for this show. It looks like a lot of fun. They're staying pretty close to the books from what I can see and we'll see how far we get into the stories. Before that, I got into the panel before it and got to see some pretty sweet footage of Street Fighter IV. They did a really good job of keeping the artistic feel of Street Fighter II and yet totally updating it at the same time. I was pretty impressed.
Then I went to the DC Nation panel. The big announcement there was that Kevin Smith will be writing a three issue Batman arc after Batman R.I.P. is over in November. The scripts are already done, the art for the first issue is almost finished, so they're looking pretty strong about being on time. There were a lot of other little bits and pieces. Geoff Johns will be writing The Flash again. He's dropping hints like mad about the Black Lantern stuff. Man. I can't wait for that.
Also, I got a hug from Greg Rucka. I believe that means I can probably call him Greg instead of sir but, well, I may still call him sir anyway. Note to self: Get Kris' photos of Batwoman and post them up here.
A few other things I've heard and talked about here already:
Hugh Jackman showed up and was very polite and complimentary to the creator of Wolverine and showed some footage from the movie. Gambit was in it. Hrm.
Darren Aronofsky to direct and David Self to write a new installment for its "RoboCop" for MGM.
The Disney panel had 3 minutes of TR2N footage.
Robot Chicken will debut Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episdoe II on November 16th.
The next X-event: X Infernus, aka Inferno 2.
"Agents of Atlas" will be getting an on-going.
MTV is looking to remake Rocky Horror. Talk about missing the point.
IF Magazine reports that producer Erwin Stoff is developing a live-action movie for 20th Century Fox based on the popular space-Western/noir anime series Cowboy Bebop.
Also, I am tired, oh so tired, of people thinking they're sneaky when they're, well, very much not. Maybe I just read situations and people well. I don't know. I know I certainly have my blind spots. I'm a wee bit rusty in some of my skills since I usually don't get involved in these sorts of situations where they're needed anymore. That and I'm tired. And a little grumpy. I may, in fact, smack some people upside the head.
