So, when I last did this, I was up to 19.

- Cadmian's Choice by L. E. Modesitt Jr. - I'd had this book for two years and I hadn't read it. It isn't that I don't like the author or these books. It is more that his books are an investment. I'm still reading for pleasure but I have to be paying attention to what is being conveyed or I'll have missed something important. They're dense and intricate and he must be a machine since he puts out like four or five books a year.

- Alector's Choice by L. E. Modesitt Jr. - Good reading. See above and below for more general comments.

- Soarer's Choice by L. E. Modesitt Jr. - Good ending to the trilogy. It went close to where I thought it was going to go. His books always seem to have an underlying theme about doing what is right usually being hard and sometimes detrimental to ourselves but no less worth doing (in fact he makes a case that it makes them more so) because of those things. There is another trilogy coming in this world later this year.

- The Queen's Bastard - C.E. Murphy - Nice. An entirely different feeling than anything before in either series. I like this. I'm also not at all sure where things are going from here. I was a little put out by how quickly everything at the very end happened. It wasn't bad, it just felt very simple where as the rest of the book was more complex - more like moving the pieces to set up what comes next than a true conclusion of this series of events. Not that I know how I would have done it differently. I recommend it!

- The Nymphos of Rocky Flats - Mario Acevedo - Light popcorn reading book. It was entertaining and an interesting start. The beginning was very vivid but as things went along, tehy started to feel more and more detached from the character. I liked it and got the two after it to read at some point. I have high hopes for things to continue on in the fun fashion they started.

- Wicked Game - Jeri Smith-Ready - I liked this. It was vampire fiction and there is a lot of it out there but here was a different idea of how they handle things, how they grow and change. I'm hoping that there will be more of these.

- Boudica - Vanessa Collingridge - This is a good book, though I was disappointed at how very little of it was about the woman herself. Then again, this is mostly because we know NOTHING about Iron Age England. What we do know is pieces together from archeological digs as well as what the Romans wrote. As you can imagine, the Romans weren't exactly impartial.

- From Dead to Worse - Charlaine Harris - Another Sookie novel. This one felt like it was mostly a place holder novel to me. A /lot/ of things happened but all of them sort of felt like things were getting in position for other things. I want to go here and here but in order to do that.... everyone needs to be standing here. We'll see. It was a good book for the airplane.

- Little Brother - Corey Doctrow - Damn. If you haven't read this, go get a copy. This is a FANTASTIC book. If I had read this when I was younger, I'd have likely done different direction in my life. This book is a mix of the Cryptonomicon and 1984 all put together in a way that delights. I recommend it for everyone but I really want to get it into the hands of 12 and 13 year olds.

Soon up will be Blood Noir, the new Kushiel book and a whole bunch of other things. I'm still pondering a Kindle purchase.
