My impression of HP7

DEATH!

Doom, doom, doom, gloom, gloom, doom, despair, gloom, doom, DEATH, DEATH, DEATH, DEATH, doom, despair, despair despair.... A little hope, a little more... DEATH, DEATH, DEATH, DEATH, DEATH. Hope and LOVE! YEAH! LOVE!

Ta-da! Finished!

And the epilogue wasn't /that/ bad. It isn't much different than what you'd expect out of fantasy kids lit. And these last three books really, really needed a firm editorial hand.

But, hey. I enjoyed it. It was a fun trip.

Yep, the pacing was off in the last book fairly significantly. :( I love Jo Rowling; she's a fun writer but yeah, when real Pottermania took off, the editors got scared and stopped using the red pen as much as she needed.

She'll hear forever about those deaths she glossed over.

I hated the epilogue.

On the whole, the book reminded me a bit of Stranger Than Fiction: If certain character(s) had stayed dead, it would have made for a much better stronger ending.

The epilogue is really about what I expected. I was more annoyed that some people got like... two sentences.

Agreed. That got to me. And there was a part in the middle which seemed really... I don't know not quite pointless but not well defined.

Yeah. She didn't do too badly and there were some really nice moments but over all the whole ending was mush.

I have no idea how that book will work as a movie.

she seemed to have a "bit" more editor led pen-dom in this one then the last two. But, not as much as needed. Ah... the curse of a too popular writer!

Yeah. There was a whole bit in the middle where I was needing something better defined. It should have been tense and worrisome but it just drug on.

I thought it was pretty good. It was a lot clearer than most battle scenes I'm used to.

Mercedes Lackey has done a few good ones but they tend a little toward the dry.
