Ah yes. Holly had just stolen the shoes of the Daibutsu.

So, instead of just going back to Tokyo, we decided to stop for dinner in Yokohama. We walked through China town and all but literally stopped at the first place that looked good and not too expensive. We all ordered the special meal that was advertized outside and it was good. We has some sort of cold jellyfish dish, a soup that might have been shark fin but was good and glutenous and filling. There was fried rice... I can't remember all of it right now but it was really, really good.

After that we walked toward the bay. The sun was setting and the wind was picking up something fierce. It was lovely. From the park on the water, we could see the ferris wheel as well as a giant wind turbine. Those things still freak me out. We found a ship that regularily made a trip between Yokohama and Seattle, which was interesting. She was quite retired but it was still good to see it.

We took the water taxi from where we were over to the ferris wheel and then we walked through this large mall to the train station and made our way home. It was excellent to see them and to get to hang out with Mark some like that. I've always liked him and never really gotten a lot of time with him. I invited Yumiko and him to visit if they would like some time. We can go visit Jimi's grave.

And then... you probably guessed it... there was sleep! Somewhere in there, there was also watching Samurai Jack in Japanese. Which I'm thrilled to have seen.

Then on Saturday we went to Akihabara and were super geeks. There is so much stuff there. I could spend an entire trip there, likely and still not see everything. There was ... There was just a ton of stuff. There was a guy who yelled at and harrassed the police, which was strange. There was a Mister Donut, which was tasty. It was very, very warm and my feet were really starting to tell me that I was pretty well done.

After we wandered around there for awhile (and found a gaming store - I'm pretty sure that people playing D&D sound like people playing D&D in any language) and then headed home. We took naps and then decided that we were going back to Ueno to get some more things and have dinner at the Hard Rock because I really wanted a burger. We eneded up being there for the Bon Jovi, G'N'F'N'R hour of videos. Which was excellent.

Then... you guessed it... there was SLEEPING.

On Sunday we got up and headed to Tokyo station and then to the Imperial Palace. There were turtles and GIANT KOI. And we fed the birds. And the turles. And the koi. And there were some turtle and koi fights. I was severely disappointed by the lack of rockets from the turtles. Seemed like it would have been a sweet time to break them out.

I was pretty much done, really. My ankle and my knee were about finished, really. Holly noticed I was limping, which was freaking awesome in a way that means it isn't awesome at all. Luckily, we were almost done. We went home, went to 7-11 and picked up snacks and more stuff and then went back and crashed for...

... you guessed it. More sleeping.

The plane trip home was great, except that I was in pain and it was really making me grumpy and probably not all that much fun to deal with. I am lucky that Holly and I are awesome friends. If I'd been her, I would have wanted to smack me at about that point really. I apparently get weird about changing plans when there are trades and/or money invoved and then the plan changes. It hits weird triggers, I guess.

Note to self - WHO CARES? Doesn't matter. Please remember to breathe and chill.

Anyway. That was the trip. In a week I head out to visit my sister. Hopefully she will have had the baby at that point but ... what can I do? Nature works as it will.

It was Yellow Submarine. I didn't buy anything, though i was tempted to pick up a copy of 4th ed Shadowrun but I don't read Japanese well enough to have used it. I also almost bought dice but I don't NEED MORE DICE. Noooo.

The guy behind the counter seemed a bit bemuised and uncertain about us. It was cool.

I thought I'd responded to this post. Huh.

Anyways, I have really enjoyed how you've written about the trip; makes me feel like I'm there with you, seeing Japan through your eyes. I look forward to reading more.

Well, that's it really. I could add more details if I weren't feeling the insane time crunch. You'd responded to the first post I made. And then I made this one late last night.

I'm sleep deprived. :)

I've loved reading about the trip. Honestly, it felt like I could see a lot of it through your eyes. I've appreciated the posts.

You're welcome. I wanted to get a lot out before it faded. Because it always does.
