Eki doko desu ka?
Watashi wa kippu o hoshii desu.
Densha wa nan ji ni demasu ka?

I don't expect to be able to cram nealry enough Japanese into my brain before I leave BUT, I'm hoping to be able to at least make my way around and to be able to ask directions without being a total idiot.

Which = Dono
Where = Doko
What = Nani
How = Do/Ikaga
Why - Naze/Doshite
Who = Dare
When = Itsu
How much = Ikura
How Many = Ikutsu

Buh. Going to see Daibutsu but other than that.... no idea.

Just remember most people in Japan are incredibly helpful and will go out of their way to give you a hand. It's nice to have a culture that isn't so ME oriented :) Anything you're looking for in particular while you are there? I'll make some inquiries.

Oh, I know. I remember walking around in Tokyo and having people wanting to help me find my way and to speak English. I just like to know as much as I can. That way we can piece things together in both languages if we have to.

I don't specifically have anywhere I want to go, though we're going to be pretty Tokyo centric due to time more than anything else.

Me too!

I'm all nervous and stuff. It's like seeing an old friend I haven't seen in years.

Furinkan koko wa doko da?

Sum total of what I remember from Japanese class... and it's from an anime. Ah well.

BAH HAHAHAHAHA

That's also half of the Japanese I remember.

I used to also remember how to say "The Blue Thunder of Furinkan High?", but alas that has fled me.

Yep. I sortakinda remember Sailor Moon's battlecry, too. 'Shimi kowatte, ochiokio.' Don't ask me the right spelling... I can barely remember all the syllables.

huh, weird. I always say "kippu wo kaitai n desu kedo" or something more polite like that. And dochira rather than doko (more like "which way" rather than "where"). but with white skin, I don't think it makes a big difference.

don't forget koko/soko/asoko, kochira/sochira/atchira for directionals... you know, when you get a response :)

Yep. Here, there, over there... Those are easy once I remember the base question. I'll remember Dochira, or at least try to, going forward. A good word to know.
