Spoilers here for Heroes - April 23rd episode (next new one)

I'm a little ticked off. Especially since the property that is being ripped off is probably now on a fast track to the big screen, due to 300 pulling in $70 million on opening weekend. (The movie cost $60 Million to make.) I try not to get too worked up about these things anymore. It normally isn't worth it because you kill people off, you bring people back, you write bad stories, you write great ones.... It all goes around in circles, really.

There aren't many new ideas in the world.

This, however, is just lame.

Sean says he thinks that this plot has been out there pre-Watchmen, which I'm willing to admit is likely. There is very little new out there in the world. Still, that they put in the watchmaker bit /and/ the nuking New York in order to bring about world peace plot point? We're starting to tread heavily. Not quite Dark Angel completely ripping off dialogue heavy but pretty heavy nonetheless.

Honestly, you think I would have made the Watchmen connection. But then, I never was fond of Dr. Manhattan. But this? This is insanely obvious.

Still, all Heroes means to me is "An Hour of Hiro and Ando Bumbling Around and Making Alba Giggle Insanely and Sometimes Claire is Fucking Awesome".

But that's a long title, so I take "Heroes".

That's pretty much what I watch it for too.

Still. This makes me grumpy.

You're right. I'll change that. (Why I was thinking March 23rd would be tonight... I don't know...)

Don't think of it as "Heroes"... thinks of it as "Hiro"

I might have to start doing just that.

1000 monkeys.
1000 typewriters.

One might've happened to be Alan Moore. One might've happened to be Tim Kring.

I read Watchmen. I was very into it at the time, but honestly? I don't remember a damn thing about it except the floating blue naked guy and the smiley button with the blood on it, and the "who watches the Watchmen" tagline.

If I hadn't read it in this article today, I still wouldn't have remembered that as Watchmen's plot.

It is possible that these guys are not "ooo, despicable," but just didn't realize they'd seen the idea before. Watchmen is what, 20 years old?

And how, exactly, do you research to know if you're stealing an idea you think is yours? You can't exactly google blowing up [a] city for world peace (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=blowing+up+city+for+world+peace) and get results that would tell you for sure if your original idea wasn't.

I am not convinced one way or the other. I'm giving Kring the benefit of the doubt.

Loeb, on the other hand, being in the industry? Not so much leeway.

Kring, I'm not upset at. However he works with a LOT of people in the industry. There are two artists and two writers he works with who must have had some idea.

Ah so!

So, it would have been tonight's IF THERE WERE ONE TONIGHT!

AH HA!

Okay. One more fix.

I never liked Watchmen, but I always figured if they were blowing up the city to create peace it was more along the lines of Hiroshima (which Hiro is named for) doing something so destructive and awful it made people stop fighting for a while.

Think the writer's tone here is all 'Look how kewl I am because I don't like a show!' ?

Besides, it could be a swerve.

It could be. And admittedly I haven't seen it yet. I haven't seen where it might well be just another reference in a show laced with so many references it is impossible to keep track of them all.

Tim Sale art is always a reason to watch.

Oh, it's gorgeous art, yes. :)

See, I was thinking, remember early 'Astonishing X-Men' issues? They had it set up that Jean was alive again to the point where they released a page of artwork showing it. And it turned out to be a fake-out, since Jean did not come back.

I'm wondering if that's the case. It's just the right level of sneaky.

I don't remember that at all, really. Maybe I wasn't paying attention. I remember Emma pretending to be Jean a few times.... *shrugs*

No matter, really. I'll wait to see what happens but I know there is a totally in the future episode coming somewhere down the line.
