Good books...
Dec. 5th, 2006 08:30 amI am currently reading Thunderbird Falls by
mizkit. I know. I know, I'm slow.
I should have read this book months and months ago. I put it off and I have no idea why but I did. That doesn't mean I'm not enjoying it. This is exactly the sort of book I love to read. It is funny and has a fatasy bend to it. It is a little fluffy for me but that's just fine. I've come to recognize that some of my favorite books are that way - as long as they're stong on the characterization. (Thus why I like early Mercedes Lack and after awhile stopped caring because there was too much damned plot and war getting in the way of my people interaction, damn it. In fact, to put a point on it, these boks sort of feel like the Diana Tregarde books which I'm glad are back in print now...)
Anyway, this book is making me happy and I can already tell you I'm going to finish it WAY too quickly. I like the characters and it doesn't hurt that Gary reminds me very much of Logan. Though I think I've read too many of this general genre of book that I think I can smell the lying doublecross that lives in the pages somewhere. It is sort of like watching Saw and saying, "You've never played Zork, have you?"
*grins* I just think that next time she comes into town, I there are places I want to take her. (Yes. I know you read this. Whenever that ends up being in the future some time. We must have dinner. A little more than a movie, maybe?)
Anyway... I'm enjoying a good book and I wanted to share it.
And in reference to the above - I own Saw. Some night we should all get together and watch it. Because while having played Zork, we might have picked some of the stuff in there out faster... well... We'd still be chained to a pipe.
