litheraA musical stage version of the classic Australian drag-queen film, The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, has premiered in Sydney with a budget three times larger than the film's.
The Departed debuted with $27 million, three times Scorsese's previous largest opening (Cape Fear).
Costs have skyrocketed for Universal's upcoming Evan Almighty, starring Steve Carell, with final expenditures likely to exceed at least $175 million ($250 million, including marketing). This will make it the most expensive comedy ever.
Lucas is talking more and more about getting out of films and into TV.
Hans Zimmer is going to score The Dark Knight. No word on iff James Newton Howard will be joining him in that again.
William Shatner keeps getting more and more.... whatever he is. ABC has signed him to host a game show.
Another Rocky movie, sure. I'll give that a chance. Another Rambo? I didn't like them much in the first place but, there is another one coming. It will be Rambo: In the Serpent’s Eye. And no, you don't want to know what the plot it. *shudder*
Zack Snyder is talking more and more about The Watchmen movie. He's going to set it in 1985, which is the year the book was published. Makes a certain amount of sense and could allow for more interesting oportunities.
Fables: 1,001 Nights of Snowfall is finally being released this month - October 18th. Looks oh, so pretty. The solicitation reads (if you haven't heard about this already): Traveling in Arabia as an Ambassador from the exiled Fables community, Snow White is captured by the local sultan who wants to marry her (and then kill her). But the clever Snow attempts to charm the sultan instead by playing Scheherazade, telling him fantastic stories for a total of 1,001 nights. Running the gamut from horror to dark intrigue to mercurial coming-of-age, Fables: 1,001 Nights of Snowfall reveals the secret histories of familiar Fables characters through a series of compelling and visually illustrative tales.
