BYE BYE YANKEES!
Oct. 7th, 2006 04:36 pmI appologize to the Tigers. Apparently they needed me to be watching.
Or at least I'll allow myself to think that.
I first fell in love with baseball in 1984, watching the Tigers win the World Series. Kirk Gibson was my hero. He was probably my first sports crush. I had a Gibby glove.
Watching the Tigers win today was a hell of a thing. They're celebrating as if beating the Yankees was winning the World Series. It isn't quite, but it is an awesome, awesome thing.
Thanks Tigers, for reminding me again why I fell in love with baseball. There have been a few teams here and there who have kindled sparks but this ... this is awesome.
Next up - Oakland.
