You know...

Maybe this is just me....

But if I were a terrorist, I'd totally be giving up on this airplane thing.

Oi.

I am very glad I am done with my flying for awhile. I need to get to work.

.... Oh, and doesn't it seem just a little... weird to raise the terror level /now/ after you've arrested people? I mean.... Meh.

They did that because they haven't caught all of them. They only rounded up 21 and Interpol thinks there were around 50.

And this is why Narita airport has been using scanners on all bottled beverages going on planes for at least a year now. Clever!

Oh, I'm sure. I mean... It is pretty obvious if you think about it.

Ug! I'm already deathly afraid of flying for other reasons, but this doesn't help!

I think they still believe there are more out there.

See, that makes a certain level of sense. Maybe trying to flee Britain and all.... Hrm..

Every time we increase security at the cost of degrading our own industries, the terrorists win. In the wake of this, the UK security list has switched to white-listing carry ons: you can ONLY carry on a clear plastic bag containing:

pocket size wallets and pocket size purses plus contents (for example money, credit cards, identity cards etc (not handbags));
travel documents essential for the journey (for example passports and travel tickets);
prescription medicines and medical items sufficient and essential for the flight (eg diabetic kit), except in liquid form unless verified as authentic.
spectacles and sunglasses, without cases.
contact lens holders, without bottles of solution.
for those travelling with an infant: baby food, milk (the contents of each bottle must be tasted by the accompanying passenger) and sanitary items sufficient and essential for the flight (nappies, wipes, creams and nappy disposal bags).
female sanitary items sufficient and essential for the flight, if unboxed (eg tampons, pads, towels and wipes).
tissues (unboxed) and/or handkerchiefs
keys (but no electrical key fobs)

No carry-on, nothing in your pockets. I don't see any indication that this is temporary.

Of course, blowing things up is probably a bigger win for the terrorists.

And soon we'll be like in that Stephen King story where they just put everyone to sleep first.

Near the bottom of that link:

We hope that these measures, which are being kept under review by the Government, will need to be in place for a limited period only.

Which isn't all that reassuring, but about as good as we usually get.
